BOGAZIÇI UNIVERSITY from 1863

HISTORY

• Bogaziçi University was formally established on
  September 12, 1971. It has behind it the long
  history of Robert College (1863), which was the
  first American College established outside the
  boundaries of the United States.
• With the transfer of the site to the Turkish
  government, Bogaziçi University became the direct
  heir to not only the excellent facilities of
  Robert College but also to its distinguished
  academic tradition.

CAMPUSES AT THE UNIVERSITY

• There are six campuses at the Bogaziçi
  University.
• Many of the buildings of the University are
  located on the historic South Campus, with the
  Bosphorus and the historical castle of
  Rumelihisar as their boundary to the east.
• The North Campus, the Hisar Campus and the
  Saritepe Campus in Kilyos contain the newer
  additions to the University facilities.
• The fifth campus is Kandilli Campus located on
  the Asiatic side of the Bosphorus. It is the
  historic Kandilli Observatory, which is the
  center of a nationwide network of seismic
  stations and a prominent research unit of the
  University.
• The sixth campus is Uçaksavar Campus serving
  sportive activities and long life education
  services.

Institute of Environmental Sciences -History-

• It was founded in 1981.
• 192 M.Sc. and 38 Ph.D. degrees were awarded in
  the fields of Environmental Sciences and
  Environmental Technology.
• The Institute is the first environmental research
  institute in Turkey established by law.
• The Institute academic staff consists of 15 full
  time faculty members, 18 research assistants and
  5 technical experts.
