Where are we now?
  • 85 of Universities are now using Turnitin
  • Awarding bodies are beginning to pilot and adopt
  • OCR, Edexcel, SQA, IFS
  • Recent survey results revealed (3,200 students)
  • 97 of students understood plagiarism to include
    taking material from the web without
    acknowledgement
  • 47 felt their tutors would be able to spot
    internet plagiarism
  • 87 support the use of electronic detection
    tools
  • 76 felt that use of such tools could help
    address the issue by discourgaing the submission
    of unacknowledged work
  • 1 in 10 felt a guilty party should be asked to
    withdraw from their course
