4Image Processing course
- New image processing course will be added to the
Landmap site. It will cover the following modules - Using contrast manipulations to reveal the
pattern of major weather systems - Land Cover Assessment using a Multispectral
Colour Composite Image - Spectral Mapping
- Georeferencing images
- Structural mapping
- Vegetation mapping
- Land Cover Classification
- Land Cover Classification
- Meteorology and sea-surface temperature mapping
- Coastal mapping
- Integration with GIS - Landslide Susceptibility
mapping - The course instructions are now available in PCI
format, Erdas Imagine, ENVI and soon will be
available in Idrisi or ERMapper. - It is hoped that by the new academic year the
course will be available as a E-Course to be
directly input into Virtual Learning Environment.
5Satellite Image Data Service
- Supports a large geographic data resource
- Require CHEST license and payment of a JISC data
hosting charge. - Web-based access to a range of satellite imagery
for the British Isles for research and teaching
purposes - Landmap Datasets
- Infoterra Satellite Data Archive
- Mediterranean data
- New ENVISAT Datasets
- Image processing course
- New download interface to access the Landmap data
products.
6New mapping interfaces to Satellite data
- JISC funded Interoperability demonstrator project
in collaboration with EDINA, UCL, University of
Leeds and NERC DAC. - We will produce OGC WMS services, Using Image Web
Server (IWS) from ERMapper. We are also using of
University of Minnesota MapServer to produce IWS
and WCS services. - We currently are also developing ECWP streaming
and ARCIMS compatible services. Using IWS. We
hope to bring into service at some time. Through
browser or ArcExploere type.

8Landmap
- Output datasets (satellite data in both strip and
mosaic formats) - 1 (25m) Digital Elevation Model product (WGS84
and OSGB National Grid) in House production - Kinematic GPS profiles for quality assessment of
DEM and geocoded products( In house) - Orthorectified archive of ERS-SAR amplitude and
phase coherence data-strips - Orthorectified archive of LANDSAT 30m and SPOT
10m data - Mosaic of orthorectified IfSAR, LANDSAT SPOT
products - ENVISAT data
- Mosaics of the above
- Image Processing Course
9Landsat band combinations for different
applications of satellite data
10ENVISAT Data
- JISC is also funding as part of the development
of the Landmap service the purchase and
processing of multi-season Envisat data. - The project to acquire and process the data will
start in the next few weeks. - Data will be processed and made available through
the Landmap service
11New ENVISAT Data Advanced Synthetic Aperture
Radar
12New ENVISAT Data Advanced Synthetic Aperture
Radar
- ASAR imagery, British Isles coverage, GB National
Grid and Irish Grid Coordinates. - Provided in WMS and WCS services for
- Image Mode (IS2 Swath),
- Alternating Polarisation,
- Wide Swath
- Future Work
- Provide data at different times of the year
seasonality - Create Coherence Colour Composite Multi Images
and interferograms. - Provide on-line learning support materials for
ASAR data

13New mapping interfaces to Satellite data
- JISC funded Interoperability demonstrator project
in collaboration with EDINA, UCL, University of
Leeds and NERC DAC. - We will produce OGC WMS services, Using Image Web
Server (IWS) from ERMapper. We are also
investigating the use of University of Minnesota
MapServer to produce IWS and WCS services. - We currently are also developing ECWP streaming
and ARCIMS compatible services. Using IWS. We
hope to bring into service at some time.
14MapServer WMS GetMap Request
- As part of the interoperability project GetMap
requests have been produced for most image
product of landmap for TIFF and ECW format - http//camber.mc.man.ac.uk/cgi-bin/mapserv.exe?map

19Image Streaming ER Mappers Image Web Server
- Another product for serving imagery is Image Web
Server 7.0 - Image Web Server provides ECW high speed
streaming for all Landmap imagery and also serves
OGC WMS - ECW streamed imagery can be accessed at
