  • The Seminoles live in the Eastern Woodlands.
  • There are big rolling hills, lazy rivers, and
    flat plains.
  • The Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico border
    Florida.

  • The climate in the Eastern Woodlands is 82
    degrees F in July and August.
  • The plants in the Eastern Woodlands are mangrove,
    cypress, and palm trees.

  • Every clan had a special name. Some clan names
    were Wind, Panther, Deer, Bird, Alligator,
    Beaver, and Bear.
  • When people married, they had to choose someone
    from a different clan.

    For example, if a Panther clan woman married a
    Bird clan man, their children would be part of
    the Panther clan.

  • In 1835, Andrew Jackson was president of the
    United States. He wanted Indian land.
  • He signed a law that forced Seminole and other
    tribes to go to Indian Territory.
  • More than 3000 Seminoles left Florida between
    1836 and 1859.

  • One out of every three Seminoles died during the
    trip.
  • 200 Seminoles were left in Florida.
