When and Where They lived
  • Seminole Indians lived in the 1700s to the
    present day. They lived in Florida most of their
    lives. Now there are many that have farms in
    Oklahoma. They are in the region of the
    Southeastern Woodland

Environment
  • They had two houses, one for summer and one for
    winter. They were made of wooden frames (one of
    their most important resource), and the roofs
    were made out of branches, bark, and grass. They
    had wonderful farming land.

Leaders
  • Osceola was the leader of the Seminole Indians,
    then he was tricked into discussing peace terms.
    General Thomas Jessup told U.S troops to put him

Fighting for Land With U.S.
  • Once in their life time they had three wars
    because of slavery and land. After the first
    U.S. government forced the Indians to move to
    Indian territory. Some did not move thats when
    the second war was started 1,500 men were killed.

The Way of Life
  • The Seminole who stayed in Florida made there
    living by hunting, fishing, raising cattle, or
    working in tourism. They lived in palm-thatched
    huts called Chickees. The Chickees stand on
    platforms raised above the ground.

Interesting facts/ famous people
  • The Seminole Indians are famous for there
    distinctive patchwork. There name is used today
    as the Florida state college football,
    basketball, and soccer. Once in the early years
    of the Seminole they were a part of the Creek
    tribe of present day Georgia.
