Whats New?
  • Rachel Page from Washburn
  • WB set aside a day per grade level team, to team
and work on plans towards PLC goals.
  • Sub-pay for teachers who need subs and for
teachers who cannot miss working with kids for a
    day.

3
Whats New At Washburn
  • Morning One of our goals was to learn more about
each other's work, so that we could "piggy back
on service" as much as might be good for the
    child.
  • Afternoon is dedicated to
  • First, doing a brain map of an ideal assessment
    share meeting.
  • Second, deliver the best assessment share meeting
that we know how to do. Principal acts as
    parent.
  • It is exciting to get this chance to fine-tune
the good work that we are doing and make our
information even more valuable to the family and
    to each other.

31
Team Decision-Making
  • Key is team
  • Everyones input is equally important
  • If there is not consensus about eligibility
  • - one person in disagreement write a
    dissenting opinion.
  • - if two are not in agreement with others
    supervisor and/or district rep decides.
  • - pre-meeting when possible if there appears to
be a lack of agreement among evaluators

32
Faxing and E-mailing Records
  • Authorized requests for information must be
granted within 10 business days of the request
provided that the request is complete, legible
and includes the 2.00 fee, if required.
  • Typically this would allow for mailing the
requested information which is the preferred
    method.
  • Electronic transmittal of private information
    should not occur.
  • Faxing information has a higher risk of a breech
    in confidentiality.

33
Faxing and E-mailing Records
  • In some instances (e.g., student registering at a
new school) a 10 day delay in the receipt of
    educational records negatively impacts the
    student
  • For this reason, under certain circumstances,
    faxing information is permitted to
    non-post-secondary schools
  • 1. The request for information is on the
letterhead of a school complete with school
mailing address, phone and fax number, and signed
by a school official for verification purposes.
  • 2. The information is faxed directly to the
    school

34
Faxing and E-mailing Records
  • 3. The information to be faxed is limited to
information needed to expedite the students
    enrollment in school (e.g., transcripts,
    immunization records, attendance information,
report cards, standardized testing, most recent
    IEP and evaluation report. etc.)
  • 4. If a post-secondary educational institution
requests records for a student and the student is
over age 18 the student must sign the request and
    pay the 2.00 fee.

35
Faxing and E-mailing Records
  • Private information may not be faxed to
    individuals or businesses
  • Faxing of information is permitted to schools
    within the Bloomington Public Schools
