Assessment Types

• Formative assessment
• Occurs while the topic is being taught, provides
  diagnostic information on specific mistakes and
  misconceptions, leads to instructional
  adaptations.

• Summative assessment
• The process of evaluating (and grading) the
  learning of students at a point in time.
  Accountability decisions are derived from
  summative assessment data.
