• Born in 1459 in Nuremberg, Germany. Died in 1537
• Martin studied mathematics, navigation and
  astronomy. Martin was a German map maker,
  navigator and a merchant.

• He sailed to Portugal as a merchant in 1480 and
  in 1486 he went to Fatal in the Azores. His first
  expedition was to Portugal. His second
  expedition was to west Africa. During these
  expeditions he made a globe that is in the German
  National Museum in Nuremberg.
• Through his expeditions he made a globe that was
  used by many explorers at the time. The globe has
  many details and shows Columbus's first voyage.
  Martin Behaim died in 1507.
