one million inhabitants. By the year 1524 the
hispaniola native population was estimated at
    about 500 natives

GENOCIDE AND CONSECUENCE THIS DISCOVERY BROUGHT
MODERNISM AND ALSO DISEASE WEAPONRY SLAVERY MALI
CE ERRADICATION SUICIDE EUROPEANS CLAIM THAT
THEIR QUEST WAS DRIVEN BY RELIGION NATIVES WERE
FORCED TO CONVERT TO CHRISTIANISM NATIVES WERE
FORCED TO PAY TRIBUTE/TAX IN GOLD AND

15
THE SADDEST PART IN OUR BACKGROUND, THE TAINO
GENE IS NON-EXISTENT. UNLIKE MANY SOUTH AMERICAN
COUNTRIES, THE CARRIBBEAN NATIVE POPULATION WAS
ERRADICATED IN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. MANY
HAVE CONCLUDED THAT NOT ALL WAS BAD. CHRISTIAN
RELIGION REACHED AN ECUMENICAL LEVEL, MODERNISM
SOON AFFECTED THE NEW WORLD. STILL CHRISTOPHER
COLUMBUS CAN BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE
EXPLOITATION AND DISTRUCTION OF A RACE ON THIS
REGION. TODAY, MANY CHOOSE TO NOT CELEBRATE
COLUMBUS DAY. INSTEAD, OCTOBER 12TH HAS BECOME A
DAY OF SADNESS AND MOURNING FOR THOSE WHO FEEL SO
FERVOUSLY REGARDING THE GENOCIDE OF THE NEW
WORLD
