• contain bibliographic records (some) complete
  texts, usually in pdf format
• Useful for
• locating the full text of an article that you
  know of from elsewhere (e.g. from Econlit)
• searching for articles in the Econlit-like manner
• you can search words in articles text, not only
  in its abstract or title
• smaller scope and/or depth then bibliographic
  databases
