If you intend to apply to a Common App school,
read this FERPA agreement carefully, then check
one of these boxes. If you do not intend to apply
to ANY Common App schools, you can skip this box.

You will find the TPHS FERPA agreement here. For
any school or program that requires a letter of
rec, fill out this form and give it to the
recommender.

FERPA Agreement
  • Be sure to print the
  • FERPA form and return
  • to counselor to waive
  • your right to access letter.
  • No counselor can write you a letter of rec
    without this form on file.
  • Students who do not waive their right will
    receive a generic, neutral letter.

After you find the school, click Add Colleges

When you add a college, it goes to the Colleges
that Im considering section.

To add your college to the application list,
check the box to the left of school name and
indicate your interest. Then select Move to
Application List.

Choose type of admission and be sure to check
what each school offers.
Be sure to click Add Applications once done.

Make sure that your Colleges to which Im
applying list is ACCURATE! Your counselors and
teachers will refer to this list as needed for
deadlines.

For a counselor letter of recommendation,
complete the brag packet for counselors.

Complete every question and pay close attention
to the deadlines.

For a teacher recommendation, be sure to select
the brag packet for teachers and complete all
the questions.

Once your packets are done, you must select your
teachers and counselor by using the add/cancel
requests.

Select your teachers and counselor from the pull
down menu here. This will send them an email
notifying them that the Brag packet is done. Be
sure to ask them in person first, before sending
the email, as a courtesy.

Dont forget to select Update Requests once
your teachers and counselor have been selected.

Requesting Letters of Recommendation
  • Once again, you MUST speak with the recommender
    (i.e. teacher or counselor) before completing
    your brag packet and submit to them the signed
    FERPA agreement form.
  • Common Application schools must be completed
    through Naviance, NO ENVELOPES REQUIRED!!!

Schools NOT on the Common Application
  • Letters of recommendation are needed for private
    and some out of state schools only.
  • For these colleges and universities you must
    bring in a stamped (3) and addressed 8½ x 11
    envelope for each college and that schools
    secondary school report.
  • Remember, UC/CSU Schools do not accept letters
    of recommendation
