College Prep Certificate Eligibility
  • 4 units of English
  • One of which may be speech or debate
  • Two of which must emphasize composition or
    writing
  • Drama and Theatre courses do not count toward an
    English unit for college prep certificate

    semester of Government
  • May also include World History, Economics,
    Psychology, and Geography

  • Must include high school level Algebra and
    beyond, including Algebra II
  • Acceptable courses include Algebra I, Geometry,
    Trigonometry, Calculus, and Math Analysis
  • Applied Algebra I, II, and III may apply if
    student also takes Algebra II.
  • Algebra I taken in the 7th or 8th grade may be
    counted toward meeting the requirement.

  • General Science does not count toward eligibility
    requirements
  • Acceptable courses include Biology, Chemistry I,
    II, III, Physics I, II, Zoology, Advanced
    Biology, ABC I, II, and Principles of Technology

  • At least 3 units must be selected from Foreign
    Language and/or combinations from two or more of
    the following course areas English, Math, Social
    Studies, Science, and Fine Arts.

  • At least 6 units of general electives which are
    sufficient to meet state and local graduation
    requirements.
  • Advanced vocational-technical courses and Dual
    Credit courses taken in high school for both high
    school and college credit may be counted as well

  • Students must score at or above the national
    average on the ACT test.
