Matthew 721

• "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will
  enter the kingdom of heaven but he who does the
  will of My Father who is in heaven.

• Jesus illustrates this by contrasting people who
  care for the needy with those who ignore the poor
  and sick.

• "Why go to a church that has a doctrine or
  practice antithetical to what you really believe?
  Go someplace where you can be yourself and yet
  grow spiritually."
• Theres no way for me to know what's right for
  you and your faith. People today don't want to be
  told what to do. They want information so they
  can make a good choice but not waste time going
  from the wrong church to the wrong church.

• Preach the word be ready in season and out of
  season reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great
  patience and instruction.
• For the time will come when they will not endure
  sound doctrine but wanting to have their ears
  tickled, they will accumulate for themselves
  teachers in accordance to their own desires and
  will turn away their ears from the truth, and
  will turn aside to myths.

Do Doctrines Matter?

• Many churches have interesting, exciting or fresh
  ways of doing things.
• Does the Lord really care how a church conducts
  its worship, or if it adapts to social currents
  in our culture?
• Every church does or teaches differently from
  every other. Does it matter if some things stray
  from the Bibles teachings and practices?

1 Corinthians 110

• Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our
  Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree, and there
  be no divisions among you, but you be made
  complete in the same mind and in the same
  judgment.

  what I say? "Everyone who comes to Me, and hears
  My words, and acts upon them, I will show you

  house, who dug deep and laid a foundation upon
  the rock and when a flood rose, the torrent
  burst against that house and could not shake it,
  because it had been well built.
• "But the one who has heard, and has not acted
  accordingly, is like a man who built a house upon
  the ground without any foundation and the
  torrent burst against it and immediately it
  collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.

• Many freely accept portions of Jesus teaching
  such as caring for the needy or loving others.
• But other teachings are frequently met with a
  strangely silent disapproval.
• Jesus made Himself easily rejectable to those who
  accept only teachings they want to believe.
• Do I accept the Son of God in full, as He
  presented Himself, or will I edit His teaching
  and doctrine according to whatever suits me?
