• I will be doing this unit with 1st grade
• One activity that I will be doing is having
  students tell why they would want or not want to
  live in the wild west
• I will also have students talk about and be a
  character or person from the wild west

Trip to the wild west

• I will take my students on a trip to the wild
  west.
• To do this we will go on a covered wagon.
• I will talk about clothes, tools, food, weather,
  everything through this trip

• How do you know?
• Make me believe you!
• But Why?
• Did women make a difference in the wild west?
• Do women make a difference today?

Objectives (TEKS) Language/Reading

• The students will be able to participate in
  rhymes, songs, conversations, and discussions
• The students will be able to clarify and support
  spoken messages using appropriate props such as
  objects, pictures, and charts
•  The students will be able to read fiction,
  nonfiction, and poetry, including classic and
  contemporary works, for pleasure and/or
  information

• The students will be able to describe ways that
  families meet basic human needs
• The students will be able to describe various
  beliefs, customs, and traditions of families and
  explain their importance and
• The students will be able to retell stories from
  selected folktales and legends
• The students will be able to describe how
  household tools and appliances have changed the
  ways families live

Evaluation Plan

• I will use a rubric and graded assignments to
  evaluate the students during throughout the unit
• The students will always be informed of how they
  will be graded
• I will also keep a portfolio for each student on
  the entire unit that we do

Other Information

• I think that this lesson is fun more than
  anything. The students are able to learn about a
  different time period that is still talked about
  frequently and pops up in many movies. It also
  helps the students to see the way that the world
  changes over time and how people change with it.
  I will be excited to teach this and hope the
  students will enjoy learning from it.
