Reason for Route

• Students on West and Central campus feel isolated
  from Durham eateries and bars
• Current methods of accessing 9th and Brightleaf
• Walking- unsafe and time consuming
• Taxi- costly and no regular schedule
• Bus to east then walk- time consuming
• Reduced options of Campus eateries on weekend
  nights provides students on campus with few
  options
• Not all students have cars

Benefits of Pilot Program

• Allows DSG to gauge student demand
• Surveys have low response rate and often have
  little baring on usage of service
• Costs are not prohibitive
• Will be able to monitor usage at each stop
  (Transportation already does this)
• Will be able to gauge benefit to vendors to see
  if we could partially finance through them in the
  future

Basics of Program

• Starts on January 25th and runs for 3 weeks
• Operates on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights
• Operates between 7 pm- 3 am
• Would be a class A bus

Bus Stops

• 4 stops
• West bus stop- serves west campus residents
• Anderson bus stop- serves central campus
  residents
• Corner of 9th and Perry- serves 9th street and
  cosmic
• Coke building (corner of main and Buchanan)-
  serves Brightleaf, James Joyce, Federal, and
  other downtown attractions
