- Safety glasses must be worn in any area
designated as an eye protection zone and during
any cutting operations - During engineering work, no scarves, hooded
shirts, rings bracelets, earring or necklaces may
be worn - During engineering work, strong shoes should be
worn - Hair must be tied back safely
- Great care must be taken when walking about the
site. Look and listen for fork trucks, electric
trucks, overhead cranes, hoists and other moving
vehicles - Designated walkways must be used at all times
unless otherwise instructed

- Keep with an adult at all times
- Ensure Safety of yourself others
- You must not interfere or misuse equipment
machines, tools, chemicals, etc - Report any accident or injury to the Health
Centre - if you are unsure about anything - please ask

- All accidents including minor cuts must be
reported to your supervisor - Running is prohibited on site
- You must inform your supervisor should you wish
to leave your placement for any length of time
If you are in any doubt about anything relating
to health and safety, ask your supervisor

This will be verified by your supervisor and sent
to your WEX co-ordinator at your school

This must be filled in by every student at the
end of the 4th Day and agreed with your
departmental supervisor
36Placement Details
Confirmation of Placement
Lunch Breaks Lunch will be provided on the
Monday Wednesday Students must provide their
own or use the company canteen on the Tuesday
and the Thursday. Lunch will not be required
on Friday as the programme finishes at 12.00
midday. Students will not be allowed offsite
during lunchtime. There will be a 15 minute
break mid morning and a 15 minute break mid
afternoon. Vending machines will be available
for students to purchase refreshments. Dress
Code All students must be suitably dressed for
work. We will advise dress code on a daily
basis to suit the type of environment the
students will be in. No baseball caps will be
permitted. No hooded tops will be
permitted. Footwear must be of a sensible
nature, i.e no open toes Smoking Policy Under
no circumstances will students be allowed
to smoke whilst on the site.

Confirmation of Placement
Mobile Phone Use Mobile phones must be switched
off when entering the site. No texting,
making or receiving calls whilst at work.
Phones may be switched on during break
time and lunch time. Personal Stereos /
MP3s Under no circumstances will any form of
personal stereo iPODs, etc. be allowed on
site. Parental Consent Parental consent must be
given to allow photos of students to be taken
to be used for promotional purposes. The
signed form must be sent to your contact,
2 weeks prior to the work experience start
date Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E) All
P.P.E required will be provided by BAE
SYSTEMS on a temporary loan basis.
