  • Most accomplished in etching
  • Did many self-portraits

Timeline
  • Born in Leiden on July 15, 1606
  • Entered University of Leiden in 1620 at age 14
  • So accomplished by age 22 that he began taking
    pupils
  • Moved to Amsterdam in 1631
  • Married in 1634
  • 4 children between 1635-41, but only 1 survived
  • Wife died in 1642
  • Rembrandt passes away on October 4, 1669
