The Dorm Life
What would you do in these situations???
4
Scenerio You and your roomate have completely
different class schedules. They have an 8am
class and you don't have class until 1030. Their
alarm goes off at 630am and wakes
you up too. Then when you come home later and you
need to study, your roomate has friends over and
they are blasting music. What would you do?
5
Be flexible Every one has friends, visitors and
study time be considerate of your roommate and
they in return will be considerate to you.
Do not yell at your roommate. Once you arrive on
campus you will be seen and treated as an adult.
Discuss try to communicate why you are having a
problem and give them a chance to see your
views. The disagreement will be shorter and more
likely accomplish something. If you start
screaming the arguments and tensions may drag on
for days and ruin your chance to have a good
relationship with your roommate.
The sooner that the two, three or four of you
compromise on a schedule that will include the
two of you working together the easier the
situation will be.

The worst thing is to start conflict or to make
your roommate feel threatened. Pull your roommate
aside and let them know that what they are doing
is making you uncomfortable and putting both of
you at serious risk.
If your roommate isnt listening to you, a smart
thing to do is get out of the situation. Ask one
of your friends if you can stay with them for
awhile until your roommate gets rid of the
problem.
If you really feel the problem is serious or
dangerous, tell one of your RAs. Sometimes
telling the RA is the safest and most
responsible thing to do.

...How To Manage Your Time...
Plan your day and set priorities the night
before. Concentrate on one goal at a time so you
dont become overwhelmed.
Allow longer periods of time to complete
research papers or other large projects. These
types of assignments can some times count for 20
or 25 of your final grade. With this much of
your grade on the line you must put in a great
deal of effort
When working in groups or with a partner, take
an active role! Dont let someone determine your
grade.
