  • Karl Benz was born to Josephine Vaillant and
    Johann George Benz.
  • Karl Benz was raised in near poverty but showed a
    talent for science in
  • education. He went to grammar school and Lyzeum,
    a science
  • oriented school. At fifteen, he attended the
    University of Carlsruhe.
  • After coming into possession of a bicycle, Karl
    begin to envision
  • concepts for the first gasoline powered car.
    However, during that time
  • it was referred to as the horseless carriage.

Formation of Mercedes-Benz

  • economy was facing a serious crisis. Karl Benzs
    company
  • was in deep trouble as well as another German
    automobile
  • manufacturer known as Daimler Motors. In order
    to survive
  • the two companies merged and became
    Mercedes-Benz.

The Logo
  • After the Daimler and Benz merged a new logo
    was conceived for the new company. The logo
    consisted of a three pointed star inside a ring.
    The three points were derived from Daimlers
    motto, which was Engines for Land, Air, and
    Water.
