Criterion 1 Should be research-based. Research
is absolutely central to this project. Students
must utilize, at minimum gtSearch engines gtThe
Business Section of Netscapes site gtSome
fairly specialized financial sites gtTheir
business corporate site Additionally, paper
research may be used.

Criterion 2 Should Integrate different
curricular areas. This project is definitely
not artificially compartmentalized or isolated.
Students must use skills in the following major
content areas gtScience/Math gtGraphic Arts/Web
Design gtEnglish

Criterion 3 Need to incorporate both group
and individual work. Individual Tasks gtContent

Criterion 4 Have defined and measurable
objectives. gtResearch criteria are clearly
spelled out. gtStudents will have a tangible
product upon completion of the project (their web
page). gtStock Market Game has a very clear
goal.

Criterion 5 Offer teacher-bounded student
choice. gtStudents may choose their own company,
but that firm must be a publicly traded Biotech
company. gtThe web design details are up to the
students, however there are clearly defined
requirements for content. gtDuring the Stock
Market Game, students are free to manage their
own portfolios.

Criterion 6 Show student use of
computer-based multimedia technology. gtPr
imary research tools are web-based. gtThe
delivery vector for the students research is a
student-designed web site rather than a standard
paper. gtStudents sites are first presented to
the group at large students then base investment
decisions on data from the sites.

Criterion 7 Include a realistic timeline. This
project breaks into three main chunks 1. )
Research (4 meetings) 2. ) Web Page Production
(4-5 meetings) 3. ) Presentaion (1 meeting) And
optionally, the Stock Market Game can run as long
as the teacher/students desire.
