    techniques.

ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUGS
  • Mid-year workshop in 05 on all aspects of
    illegal drugs and traffic safety.
  • Explores problem ID, testing, enforcement,
    adjudication, countermeasures, and sucess/failure
  • Later this month will be e-circular, DRUGS and
    TRAFFIC, on TRB website.

  • Continuing high crash risk
  • First 1200-1800 hours or six months
  • IOM/TRB study and workshop convened
  • Adolescent and brain development research show
    underpinnings for success of GDL.
  • Continued expansion of GDL, particularly with
    night, peer riders, and cell phone restrictions
  • Use new knowledge in recreating DE

  • Follow-up to the R T Forum Partnership Highway
    Safety Agenda
  • Study committee formed, met, held workshop
  • Developed process for updating national agenda
    and coordinating between, federal, state, private
    and academic funders. Limited to infrastructure
    safety.

  • 375 papers submitted to TRB (310 in 05 and 275
    in 04)
  • 80 sessions safety related (out of 820) (75 out
    of 841 in 05)
  • Now 20 safety committees and task forces
  • 5 subcommittees in emerging areas, e.g. accident
    reconstruction, EMS, emergency evacuation
  • Conclusion interest growing
