ADC Energy Programme

• Focus sector of the Austrian Development
  Cooperation (ADC)
• Annual budget of 5-6 million euros (5-6 of
  bilateral ADC budget)
• ADA acts as the operational arm of ADC
  (implementation of development aid according
  to energy policy of the Ministry for Foreign
  Affairs)
• Key objective Access to modern, reliable and
  affordable energy services for poor
  population target groups (households, SMEs,
  social institutions)
• ADC assists developing countries to use their
  local energy potentials in a sustainable way
  (removing barriers, technology transfer)
• ADC provides grant financing for investment
  projects (project development, small
  investments), policy development, capacity
  building, awareness raising

ADC Energy Programme

• ADC is following the principle of technology
  neutrality (individual solutions for individual
  problems needed)
• Focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency
  (especially hydropower, biomass,
  solarthermal, wind)
• Quality assurance evaluation of projects
  through financial, technical and development
  criteria monitoring of implementation by
  country offices
• Facilitating sector coherence in Austria Usage
  of domestic know-how in science and industry
  creation of synergies with other actors (OeKB,
  OeEB, CDM), UNIDO, REEEP, IIASA) considering
  foreign policy objectives
• Geographic focus of sector activities South
  Eastern Europe (Macedonia, Albania),
  Sub-Saharan Africa (West Africa, Southern
  Africa), Himalaya Region (Bhutan), Central
  America/Caribbean
• Organization of the annual Global Forum on
  Sustainable Energy (www.gfse.at)
