2MeetingPoint 4.0 Installation
- Close all open applications on your computer.
- Insert the MeetingPoint CD-ROM into your
computers CD-ROM drive. MeetingPoint
Installation Utility will appear after you close
the drive door. - Click Install MeetingPoint 4.0 to start the
MeetingPoint installation process. - The Welcome screen appears.
- Click Next. The User Information dialog box
appears.
3MeetingPoint 4.0 Installation
- If your videoconferencing card was installed
correctly, its Serial number appears
automatically. If this number does not appear,
cancel the installation, delete any previous
MeetingPoint versions from your computer, then
shut down the computer and reinstall the card. - Enter your Name and Company name. Click Next.
- Proceed with the installation process as
instructed. - At the end of the installation process, do not
forget to restart your computer.
4MeetingPoint 4.0 Configuration
- When running MeetingPoint for the first time, you
will have to pass through a configuration phase. - The configuration wizard guides you through the
required stages and requests the relevant
information for normal operation of MeetingPoint.
- The setup procedure may vary according to your
VCON desktop videoconferencing system and the
means of communication that you use.
5MeetingPoint 4.0 Configuration - User Information
- In the User information section, enter your First
Name, Last Name, Company name, and E-mail
address. - In the Dialing Information section, click the
Country that you are in, enter your area code,
and type the appropriate digits for dialing an
outside line (External), a Long Distance call, or
an International call. - This information is used when registered in the
On-Line Directories.
6MeetingPoint 4.0 Configuration - Switch Type
- In the Switch Type dialog box, click the country
you are in as Your Location. - In the Switch Type list, the most common switch
type for your country appears automatically. If
you are using a different switch type (according
to your ISDN carrier), select a different switch
type.

- The available switch types are
- ATT 5ESS Custom
- German 1TR6
- National ISDN 1
- French VN3
- NT DMS100 Custom
- Australian TS013
- Japanese NTT
- Euro-ISDN NET3
- In certain areas of the United States, the main
ISDN network is Restricted (data rate of 56K). If
your computer is connected to a Restricted
network, select Check this box if you have
restricted 56K access.

- Click the number of ISDN phone lines your system
uses. - The number of available lines depends on the
number of BRIs (Basic Rate Interface) on your
videoconferencing card. Each BRI supports up to
two phone lines of 64 Kbps each (56 Kbps in
Restricted networks) - Cruiser 75 Up to 2 ISDN lines
- (1 BRI)
- Cruiser 150 Up to 2 ISDN lines
- (1 BRI)
- Cruiser 384 Up to 6 ISDN lines
- (3 BRI).

- In the Phone numbers boxes, enter the ISDN phone
numbers of each line. Do not include your own
countrys international code or your local area
code. - If your ISDN carrier has supplied you with two
identical phone numbers for a BRI, type the
number in the consecutive boxes (12, 34,
56). In all other cases, the phone numbers for
each ISDN line may be different.
10MeetingPoint 4.0 Configuration - LAN
- User Alias - Your computers unique name on the
connected network (H.323 alias) or your e-mail
name. - User Number - Your computers unique number
(H.323 E.164 string). - Gatekeeper Address - the IP address of the H.323
Gatekeeper with which your computer is
registered. This information is optional. - Allow Adaptive Bandwidth Adjustment - Select this
option to enable adjustment of the bandwidth if
the network is congested and your specified
bandwidth is not available. - Enable Lip Synchronization Mechanization - Select
this option to enable adjustment of the video and - the audio if they are out of sync with each
other.
11MeetingPoint 4.0 Configuration - Multiple
Monitors
- The Multi-VGA feature gives you the capability of
placing several windows (for example, Local and
Remote video windows) on different monitors. You
can move the mouse pointer among the various
monitors in order to control the various remote
views. - Select Enable Multi VGA Mode if you want to set
up MeetingPoint to display a single
videoconference among more than one monitor. - X,Y - The XY matrix represents possible physical
configurations for your setup of multiple
monitors.
12MeetingPoint 4.0 Configuration - ILS
- In the Online Directories dialog box, specify if
you want to register with an online directory,
and if so, which one. - Online directories contain lists of registered
Internet users who are currently connected to the
Internet (online). - These directories are usually located on Internet
Location Servers (ILS). By default, MeetingPoint
offers you to register with the VCON
videoconferencing users ILS, ils.vcon.co.il.
13MeetingPoint 4.0 Configuration - PTZ Camera
- The Pan/ Tilt /Zoom Camera dialog box is
applicable if you connected a Pan/Tilt/Zoom-type
(PTZ) camera to your computer. If you do not use
a PTZ camera, you can specify your PTZ camera
type as None in the dialog boxs top list and
continue the MeetingPoint setup. - In the Select your Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera type
list, click the manufacturer and/or model of your
PTZ camera. - In the Select the communication port it is
connected to list, click the name of your
computers port to which the camera is connected.
The available options are COM1, COM2, COM3 and
COM4.
14MeetingPoint 4.0 Configuration - MSN
- If your connected ISDN network supports Multiple
Subscriber Networks (MSN), you can specify
whether you want to use this feature or not. - Select Yes to use MSN capabilities. Specify the
exact MSN numbers for your computer in the MSN
tab of the Conference Panel Properties dialog
box. - Select No if your connected ISDN network does not
support this feature, or if you do not want to
use it.
15MeetingPoint 4.0 Configuration - Sub Addressing
- The Sub-Addressing dialog box is applicable if
your computer shares an ISDN BRI line with other
equipment (such as other computers, fax machines,
standard telephones, and so on). In such a case,
your computer has an additional series of numbers
and/or letters added to the end of its phone
number. - If your computer has a sub-address, enter
information as follows
Sub-Addressing - Type your phone number followed
by an character and the series of numbers
and/or letters making up the sub-address.
16MeetingPoint 4.0 Configuration - Confirmation
- When MeetingPoint is running and not in a call,
you can change this Setup information by
right-clicking in the Conference Panel and then
clicking Configuration. - The Configuration Properties dialog box contains
different tabs detailing the information that you
entered during the original Setup process.
However, some setup changes may require closing
and reopening MeetingPoint before they take
effect.
17MeetingPoint 4.0 - Conference Panel
- The first time you start MeetingPoint, the
Conference Panel appears at the top of - the screen. It provides quick access to many
videoconference activities, such as - Reopening the Video window after it has been
closed - Starting a videoconference
- Data sharing applications
- Obtaining on-line help
- Grabbing a picture
- You can move the Conference Panel around the
screen, hide it if it becomes - inconvenient, and restore it whenever you want.
You can also customize the display - properties of the Conference Panel. These
activities affect neither MeetingPoint - functions nor the Conference Panel of remote
videoconference participants.
18MeetingPoint 4.0 - Video Window
- The Video window provides video displays
- from your camera (the local user) and the
- other participants camera (the remote user).
- Various other videoconferencing functions
- are also available from the Video window,
- such as
- Audio adjustments
- Video adjustments
- Equipment (camera, handset, speakers, microphone)
selection and adjustments - Dialing and hang-up of videoconferences
- When you open MeetingPoint for the first
- time, the Video window appears on the right
- side of the screen. You can move it to any
- other location without affecting the
- videoconference session.

20MeetingPoint 4.0 - Audio Device Selection
- In the Video windows Properties dialog box, you
can define the equipment from which you hear
audio, and the type of microphone into which you
speak during your calls. - Speaker to receive audio through speakers
connected to your computer. - Private to receive audio through the handset.
- Microphone Origin
- Always Use Desk-top camera microphone uses
cameras built-in microphone at all times. - Always use Line-level AUD IN Audio input uses a
microphone that is connected to the Line Level
Audio In connector. - Switch audio when Camera is switched uses the
microphone of the selected camera in the case you
are working with 2 cameras.

- Color Toolbar
- In the Video window, click the Color Toolbar
button to open the Color Toolbar at the bottom of
the video window. - Change brightness, color and contrast settings,
by clicking the appropriate button until you
receive satisfactory results. - Using Camera Setup Dialog Box
- Right-click anywhere in the Video window, point
to Camera and click Setup to open the Camera
Setup window. - Change the camera parameters until you receive
satisfactory results. Click OK to exit.
22MeetingPoint 4.0 - Address Book
- The Address Book Explorer is your main tool
- for creating and maintaining a database of
- videoconferencing contacts. You can use the
- Address Book Explorer for dialing to start a
- videoconferencing session or placing a call to
- an ordinary telephone number.
- You can store separate details for individual
- contact persons in the Address Book
- folder(s), dial quickly to a pre-defined Speed
- Dial entry, dial manually through the Manual
- Dialers, or dial to an Internet Location Server
- (ILS) site entry that is stored in an Online
- Directory.
23MeetingPoint 4.0 - Address Book - New Entry
- In the Address Books Properties dialog box, you
can enter name and telephone details for your
contact and that contacts connectivity options - General Personal details about the contact.
- Office ISDN Configuration for dialing this entry
through ISDN connections. - Office LAN Configuration for dialing this entry
through LAN connections. - Office Information for making audio-only contact
with this entry to ordinary or mobile phones.
This tab also includes company details, mailing
address information, fax, pager, email and Web
site address. - Home Information for making audio-only contact
with this entry to ordinary or mobile phones.
This tab also includes home details, as the
Office Information tab.
24MeetingPoint 4.0 - Address Book - Automatic
Dialing
- The Speed Dial List contains address book entries
that you can dial directly without opening the
Address book Explorer. You can open this list by
clicking the Speed Dial button in the Conference
Panel. - Dial - In the left pane of the Address Book
Explorer, double-click the folder where the entry
you want to dial is located. Dialing will be
done according to the Default Dialing settings
(ISDN or LAN).

- To enter the phone number, click the appropriate
number buttons in the dialer press the
appropriate number keys on your keyboard. - Options
- Bonding Select this option if this entrys ISDN
connection is grouped in a Bonding configuration. - 56K Select this option if this entrys connection
is part of a Restricted network (applicable in
some areas of the U.S.A.). - Rate Click the total data rate of the entrys
ISDN connection. - Click Dial to start a call or videoconference.
- Click hang-up to disconnect the call.

27MeetingPoint 4.0 - Online Directories Properties
- In the Conference Panel Properties dialog box,
you can specify the default Online Directory that
appears whenever you open the Address Book
Explorer. In addition, you can select if and how
you want to register in the Online Directory. - Server Name - click the name of the Internet
Location Server (ILS) to which you want to
register. - Registration Options
- Do not register - If you do not want to be
- registered in the selected ILS.
- Register Seen by DVC users only if you want
- your name and details to be available to
only desktop videoconferencing users when you are
online to Internet connection. - Register Seen by all users if you want your
- name and details to be available to all
online registered ILS users.
28MeetingPoint 4.0 - Online Directories Options
- If you want to change the default ILS of the
address book, open the Address Book Options
dialog boxs Online Directories tab and make the
change. The Address Book will display the
selected ILSs online Directories. - Server - click the default Internet Location
Server (ILS) whose entries will appear in the - Address Book Explorer. An ILS contains a list of
Internet users registered with it who are
currently online. - Use Same Server for Registering with Online
- Directory - display your name on the default
ILSs list whenever you are online. - Display Online Directories to view the online
- directories and their lists in the Address Book
Explorer. - Default Communication Method - Select ISDN or LAN
to set the default means of connection to persons
listed in the online Directories.

- How to contact an online ILS user
- In the Address Book Explorer, click the Online
Directory folder to display the - available online directories.
- Click one of the directory icons. The Address
Book Explorer right pane contains a list of video
and audio conferencing users who are currently
online in the selected ILS. - Dial out using one of the following methods
- Double-click on the selected entry name.
- Right click and then click the default method,
such as Dial LAN (Default). - In the Address Book Dial menu, click the default
method, such as Dial Office LAN (Default).
30MeetingPoint 4.0 - Multicast - Session
Information
- When you start an interactive multicast
videoconference, you must first set it up in the
Sessions Information dialog box - Session - Type a Name to identify the multicast
session. Type a Description of the session
(Optional). - Start Time boxes are synchronized with the
computer time. - Length - Estimated length of the videoconference.
- Use Data for this session - make data sharing
available for the upcoming videoconference. - Require Password - limit participation in the
videoconference only to authorized persons. Click
Set to enter the password for your multicast
videoconference. - Broadcast Format - MeetingPoints Interactive
Multicast feature supports Ciscos Internet
Protocol TV (IP/TV). - IP/TV Compatible - make your videoconference
available for public viewing.
31MeetingPoint 4.0 - Multicast - Chair
- After you set the Session Properties, you can
dial the participants of your multicast
videoconference. You can dial entries from your
Address Book folders and/or dial persons using
the LAN Connect Manual Dialer. - During an interactive multicast videoconference,
the conferences initiator fulfills the role of
the Chair and the others are Participants. - The Chair dialog box appears only on the session
chairpersons screen. - The Chair controls the videoconference. The Chair
determines if other Participants can contribute
questions, discussions, and video to the session.
- In addition, the Chair has the ability to
disconnect any participant and to terminate the
videoconference. If data applications are shared,
all file saving can only be done to the Chairs
computer.
32MeetingPoint 4.0 - Multicast - Participant
- If a Participant wants to ask the Chair a
question, speak to everyone, or send a short
message to the Chair he needs to click the
following button - Request Floor - Participant wants to speak and be
seen by the other participants. In the Chair
dialog box, the Video icon - appears next to the name in the Request column.
- Request Audio - Participant wants to speak. In
the Chair dialog box, the Audio icon appears next
to the name in the Request column. - Send Message - In the Participant dialog boxs
text box, the participant may type a short
message to the Chair. Clicking Send Message
displays the message in the Chair dialog box on
the chairpersons screen. In the Chair dialog
box, the - Message icon appears next to the name in the
Request - column.
- Accept Floor Anytime - If this condition is
selected, the Participant automatically accepts
the floor or audio any time the request is
granted.
