The scale of the challenge ahead

• Only 1 havent heard of climate change
• One third do not believe it to be an immediate
  and urgent problem
• 35 considered the environment to be the most
  important issue facing the world today
• Even the deep greens are resistant to lifestyle
  change

Easy gains hard to wins

• 79 hang their washing up to dry
• 63 use energy saving light bulbs
• 76 use kerbside recycling
• Higher ratings for those who believe everyone
  should do these behaviours
• 7 out of 10 tended to disagree that they dont
  give much thought to the amount of rubbish and
  waste that is produced by my household
• at least most of the time

• 44 of workers who own a car and live lt1 mile
  from work, drive to work
• 46 taken at least 1 non-work flight within past
  12m
• A third of householders unable to estimate their
  energy bills (to closest 20)
• 38 regularly throw out food because it has gone
  out of date
• General awareness of appliance energy rating low
  especially for TVs
• Majority believe their homes unsuited to
  micro-generation installation, few have checked
  feasibility
