Planning for Your Semester
  • Website of importance
  • http//www.coe.tamu.edu/advising
  • Updated regularly
  • Please bookmark
  • You will be paying for 15 hours during fall and
spring semesters. Please come to advising
session with an idea of which courses you will
take in the spring and summer of 2006.
  • Please let an advisor know if you are taking
coursework at a junior college so s/he can give
you the correct TCCN course number.

5
Grade Exclusion
  • Any student who entered AM as a first time
student may elect to have 3 AM courses of D, F,
or U that were taken during their first year
    excluded from your cumulative GPR.
  • Grade exclusion can affect classification if
excluding a course lowers your hours below 30, 60
    or 95 hours.

6
Field-Base Course Information
  • All field-based coursework will only meet for
lecture the first week of class.
  • You will not meet in the public schools during
    your first week.
  • Please note that some early childhood courses
require concurrent enrollment and enrollment in
    the same section.
  • This applies to ECHE 321 331.

7
Courses in other Departments
  • INST 210, EPSY 320 (TECA 1354, PSYC 2314, or PSYC
2308) , and EPSY 435 are Educational Psychology
courses and require you to see Christy Porter
(845-1874) if you need to be forced.
  • We CANNOT force you into any of these courses.

8
Catalog Requirements
  • Students on Catalog 128 must have 2 years of the
same high school foreign language or complete 2
semesters in college. This is required for
graduation from Texas AM University but will not
be applied to the degree plans in the College of
    Education.
  • PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST HAVE A 2.75 TO BE ADMITTED
INTO THE UPPER LEVEL COURSES AND YOU MUST
    MAINTAIN THIS GPR.
  • Failure to do so will result in you not being
admitted to teacher education and possibly asked
    to leave our department.
  • There are no Ds allowed on Catalog 128.
  • You are responsible for adhering to course
    prerequisites and requirements.

9
Probation and Review
  • At the end of each semester your GPR will be
    reviewed.
  • If you entered TAMU as a freshman, after three
semesters if you do not achieve and maintain a
2.75 GPR, you will be dismissed from the
    Teaching, Learning, and Culture Department.
  • If you entered TAMU as a transfer student, after
two semesters if you do not achieve and maintain
a 2.75 GPR, you will be dismissed from the
    Teaching, Learning, and Culture Department.
  • At this point you will need to transfer to
another college at Texas AM to pursue a degree.
