  • COMMON VOCABULARYtoday highlight or note any
    words you think should be used in EVERY
    classroom.
  • Write down any others you wish to add.
  • Think about a common graphic organizer
    or two for all classrooms.
  • This will be a valuable activity
  • to do as a staff.

FORMATS
  • Grades 3 and 5 One Expository Piece
  • Grades 6 and 8 One Narrative and
  • One Persuasive Piece
  • Grades 4 and 7 will not be tested in writing, but
    DO need to teach writing
  • 45 minutes plus extra ten for students actively
    engaged
  • Writing does not count for AYP
  • No restrictions on posters

  • Provide models of good papers and papers that
    need work. Use examples from a variety of
    sources, including work of past students
    (anonymous of course)
  • Discuss why some papers are better than others
    and how improvements can be made
