Title: Making A Positive

1
Making A Positive
  • Create your design using a computer. Be sure the
design is in black and white and that there are
no gray or colored areas of your design.
  • The best software to use for this is Adobes
    Photoshop 5.5
  • You can use text or graphics for use in this
    process of Photographic Emulsion.
  • Once you have your design and you think it is
ready to make your positive, have your teacher
check it before you print it out.
  • Once it has been approved, print it out to the
Laserjet 4050 laser printer onto a transparency.
(Note get this transparency from your teacher)
Be sure to place the transparency in tray 3 and
ensure no other students are printing before you
try to print to the transparency.

Making A Positive - Continued
  • If the image doesnt take up too much area on a
page, place two images onto the page and then
print as you will be taping two transparencies
together to obtain the correct density for use on
    the Exposure Unit.
  • If the image does take up too much of the print
area, then you will have to print two copies of
    the image.
  • Once printed, tape the two images on top of one
another and be sure they are exactly lined up.
Use the light table to do this and use scotch
    tape.
  • Once the transparencies are taped together, you
are ready to line them up on your coated screen
for exposure on the exposure unit.
