CMH Tobacco Use Percentages
  • We gave an anonymous tobacco survey to eight
random CMH classes. The survey asked if students
used tobacco at the beginning of the school year
and if they use it now. The results (in
percentages) are visually shown in the pi charts
    to the right.

Movie Night!
On January 23, 2009 TATU sponsored a free movie
night. There was food and drink for students and
family members who showed up to watch a Disney
movie, play board games, and eat junk food. This
movie night was to provide a positive, drug free
activity on a Friday night. We had a table out
right next to the snack bar full of free anti
tobacco promotional items.

Ryan's Solution!
Ryans Solution in Lake Stevens is committed to
eliminatinating all drug deals and drug use in
the public school. By citizen involvement,
education and activism this can and will be
accomplished. It is the parents, students, and
citizens who will solve the problem by working on
the solutions. Ryans Solution was named in honor
of Ryan DePuy, a 17 year old student who died
from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs
in the spring of 2008. Ryan was every child.
The DePuys are gracious enough in this time of
their own grief to fully support the mission of
Lake Stevens Ryans Solution group. They also
started the Ryans Solution Foundation-which
raises money to assist programs and individuals
in the fight against prescription drugs.

Ryan's Solution!
  • Ryans Solution has contributed The Gold
Standard Program and has assisted TATU in most
    anti-drug and anti-tobacco activities, by
contributing funds and volunteers! They also
helped with National Red Ribbon Week activities
at CMH, and have accompanied us to the Yakima
Prevention Summit and other local events.

  • During all of our activities this year, we
handed out Tobacco pamphlets, stickers, buttons,
yo-yos, mini skate boards, and other free
anti-tobacco related materials. We feel that
handing out tobacco prevention materials at our
school functions will have a more positive effect
than if we put them on a table where no one can
see them and will have to choose to go find the
    information.
  • Below is an example of one of the pamphlets we
    handed out.
