2Purpose
- To support programs (grades 9-12) that show the
most potential to improve high school success and
completion and encourage students toward
post-secondary education and training.

- Increase student achievement TAKS scores and
Credit Accrual - Increase students graduating in 4 years

- Decrease criminal and non-criminal incidents

and passing the TAKS test by 10 - Obj. 1.2 Ensure that all students earn credit in
75 of the core subject areas

9Direct Instruction
- Four core areas - Language Arts, Social Studies,
Science and Math - will incorporate remedial
instruction as an integral part of the
curriculum. - Activities
- Instructional Specialists will provide materials
integrating TEKS and remediation techniques for
at-risk students, - Teachers will administer district made tests,
item analysis (ADM Scan) will yield information
regarding mastery, and - TAKS Talks will be held at least twice a
semester.
10Alternative Instructional Opportunities
- Expand opportunities to keep students in school
and recover dropouts. - Activities
- Provide extended-day credit recovery program,
- Provide a limited number of compacted courses in
core subjects, and - Provide an opportunity each semester for students
to earn credit through extended day/evening
Enrollment and web online courses, and, -
11Tutoring and Remediation
- Required for students who failed to achieve
mastery of basic skills on standardized tests. - Activities
- Develop a mandatory tutorial program at the end
of each nine-weeks for students failing core
subjects, including TAKS online tutorials, - Pretest students to determine weak areas,
post-test to determine mastery, and - Utilize technology hardware and software will be
as a diagnostic, prescriptive and learning tool.

13 HOSTS/Mentors
- The HOSTS programs will enable us to recruit,
recognize and retain volunteer mentors. - The HOSTS Partnership with Parents programs will
help us include parents in academic activities
using a series of school-based workshops.
