SUMMARY OF COVERAGE

• Legal liability to third parties
• Breach of duty, negligent act, error, omission,
  misstatement, misleading statement, or breach of
  confidentiality which occurs in the performance
  of or failure to perform Professional Services
• Defence costs
• Contingent cover
• Claim is amended to include disciplinary action/
  proceedings/ investigation against the Insured
  from the Board or other regulatory bodies/
  authorities

• Claims made - claim for compensation first made
  against the Insured and is notified in writing to
  Insurers during the Period of Insurance
• Retroactive Date Fully but excluding known
  claims and/or circumstances at inception
• Jurisdiction/ geographical limit worldwide
  excluding USA/ Canada
• Policy Excess HKD5,000 each and every claim
  including costs and expenses
• Limit of Indemnity including costs and expense

MAJOR EXTENSIONS

• Unintentional infringement of rights of
  intellectual property
• Libel, Slander and Defamation
• Loss of Documents (sublimited to HKD2,500,000)
• Bodily injury including emotional distress
• Inquiry Attendance expenses (sublimited to
  HKD5,000)
• Molestation/ Sexual misconduct defence costs
  only provided such claim is dismissed or
  otherwise results in a judicial finding of
  no-fault

• Known claims/circumstances prior to inception
• Intentional Acts
• Contractual liability/ performance guarantees
• Treatment exclusion
• Pollution
• War/ Terrorism

HOW WILL A CLAIM BE HANDLED?

• Should give immediate written notice to Insurer
  during the insurance period of any claim or
  circumstance which may give rise to a claim
• Do not admit or assume any liability or enter
  into any settlement etc without prior written
  consent of Insurer
• Should defend and contest any claim made against
  you
• Notification should be sent to

WHO ARE INSURED AND HOW TO APPLY?

• Registered Social Workers registered with the
  Social Workers Registration Board under the
  Social Workers Registration Ordinance
• Please send your application form together with
  the cheque payable to American International
  Underwriters, Limited or the payment slip to
  Financial Lines Department, AIA Building, 1
  Stubbs Road, HK. On the back of the cheque/
  payment slip, please put down your name and
  social worker registration number

CLAIMS EXAMPLES

• If a social worker fails to warn his service user
  
• If a social worker fails to take care of his
  service user in a function arranged by him/her
• If a social worker fails to arrange a divorced
  couple to meet in a proper manner which leads to
  a family violence
• If a social worker fails to arrange a safe
  adventure to their service users resulting to any
  bodily injury
• If a social worker renders counselling service on
  a voluntary basis
