  • How are the principles of ESDGC reflected in your
    organisation?

  • Evaluate your current position
  • Identify areas requiring action
  • Complete Action Plan and submit to DCELLS by
    31st October 2009
  • Take action
  • Monitor and evaluate impact.

  • Adopt a whole organisation approach.
  • Set up an ESDGC working group with senior
    management representation.
  • Identify responsibility for updating action plan.
  • Organise regular meetings to discuss action plan
  • monthly or at least quarterly for first year
  • track and record progress
  • identify gaps and challenges.

  • Providers vary in size and are at different
    stages in addressing ESDGC
  • self evaluation will help you understand your
    position.
  • You do not have to be performing well in
    everything
  • demonstrate awareness of strengths and areas for
    improvement
  • be honest and plan action to address gaps
  • develop a phased approach where appropriate
  • plan for continuous improvement.

How to Evaluate
  • All key requirement statements are combined into
    one overall Evaluation and Planning for Action
    Checklist to aid evaluation and planning.
  • The Checklist forms the basis for your completed
    Action Plan.
  • It will enable you to see where you are making
    the most improvements and where you need to
    improve at a glance.

How to Evaluate
  • Use a structured and systematic approach to
    evaluate your current position.
  • Concentrate on one section at a time (Sections
    1-4).
  • Read the guidance within each section (background
    information etc) where necessary.

How to Evaluate
  • As a team, use the Checklist, and
  • Evaluate your current position against each of
    the key requirement statements
  • Determine whether appropriate first-hand,
    up-to-date evidence is easily available
  • Identify areas requiring action
  • This will form the basis of your ESDGC Action
    Plan which you will need to submit to DCELLS
    (Template Appendix 1).
