Arts Technology Support
  • 15 departments 4 main buildings (and some
    outliers)
  • migrating local networks from 10 to 100 from
    shared to switched
  • centralized departmental file print servers
    (Novell) Windows NT 2000 Unix web servers
  • three technical support staff (plus a half-time
    student this term) need to grow to keep up with
    demand

Arts TLC Mandate
  • assist departments and the Faculty of Arts with
    general technology issues
  • guide, advise, and assist teachers in accessing
    appropriate technology for their teaching
  • cultivate and develop the knowledge and skills of
    faculty, staff, and students with respect to
    technology and teaching
  • provide input to policy decisions and coordinate
    at the campus level and beyond

Measures of success
  • penetration - accessed by over 100 of our 680
    teaching staff
  • facilities - large increase in computer labs and
    smart classrooms in our areas
  • perceptions - significant technology-based
    research and teaching projects are underway
    (Orlando Canada Research Chairs MACI-funded
    Anthropology lab)
