New Echota

• Cherokees ancestral lands capital in Georgia.

Council House, Supreme House, and Print Shop,
three of the reconstructed buildings in New
Echota, were originally owned by Cherokee.
The monument on New Echota Historic Site honored
the Cherokees who died on the Trail of Tears.

Gold in Georgia

• This mineral was found in Georgia which would
  eventualy get the Cherokees removed from their
  ancestral lands.

Samuel Worcester

• Cherokee Missionary who did religious work to
  help the Cherokee Indians.
• Samuel was placed in prison for not signing a
  loyalty oath to the state of Georgia.

Worcester vs- Georgia

• Supreme court case in which the Cherokees fought
  versus the state of Georgia for their rights.
• Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Cherokee.

Andrew Jackson

• In response to the Supreme Courts decision, he
  was quoted as saying let them enforce it!
