GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE MANAGEMENT
THE COURT'S principal role is to oversee the
management of the revenue, property and other
resources of the University. It approves the
mission and strategic vision of the University,
and has a number of corporate and legal
responsibilities.
THE SENATE is responsible for the regulation and
superintendence of teaching and for the promotion
of research. The core functions of the Senate are
broad and are specified in the Universities
(Scotland) Acts.

Remit The University Management Group has
responsibility for developing and monitoring
institutional strategic direction and academic
planning, cross-College and external
collaborative developments.
Membership The University Management Group is
composed of the Principal, Senior Vice-Principal,
Vice-Principals, the University Secretary, Deputy
Secretary, Academic Registrar, Directors of
Estates, External Affairs, Finance, Human
Resources, Information Technology, Planning,
Research Innovation, Librarian, and

STRATEGIC PLAN INSTITUTIONAL TARGETS
  • Grow our student population from 11,500 FTE to
    12,500 FTE.
  • Increase the proportion of graduates in graduate
    jobs from 75 to 85.
  • Reduce the proportion of students who neither
    graduate nor transfer to 10.
  • Be among the top 20 UK universities in terms of
    research income.
  • Grow competitively-won research income to 65M.
  • Have 100 of our research activity rated as
    being of national quality, and within that have
    90 of international quality.
  • Raise awareness of corporate social
    responsibilities and implement awareness
    programmes.
  • Establish and reduce the number of days lost
    through sickness absence.
  • Complete all our committed capital projects
    within programme, budget and quality framework.
  • Achieve high standards of environmental
    performance for all new capital developments.
  • Achieve an annual surplus of 3 of turnover to
