  • Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965
    (initially just three programs).
  • Now there are 7 (UB, UB Math Science, Veterans
    UB, ETS, SSS, EOC, McNair, Training

Purpose
  • To provide educational opportunity for all
    Americans regardless of race, ethnic background
    or economic circumstance.
  • TRiO Programs assist LI/FG Americans to enter
    college, graduate and move on to participate more
    fully in America's economic and social life.

  • Neither parent graduated from college (4-year)
  • Low-income (LI)
  • Come from families at or below 150 of poverty
    (2/21,000) As determined by the US Census
    Bureau
