Residence Requirement

• Complete a minimum of 30 credit hours at
  BYU-Idaho.
• 30 credit hours of upper division classes.
• Final 15 credits of coursework must be completed
  at BYU-Idaho.
• May be able to transfer credits back to graduate.
  Handled on a case-by-case basis.
• Students must create a plan to avoid the 140
  credit limit.

Transferring Credits

• When transferring credits to another school, that
  school should be contacted for information.
• When transferring credits into BYU-Idaho, contact
  the registrars office for information.

Religion Requirement

• Requirement is listed in both the printed and
  online catalog.
• Main Requirements for Bachelor degree
• Fourteen (14) credit hours of religion
• Must include
• four (4) credit hours of Book of Mormon
• AND  six (6) credits from  Old Testament, New
  Testament, Doctrine and Covenants
• AND  Four (4) credits from any courses offered
  for credit in religion.

Changing Tracks

• Generally not considered.
• Only appeals considered are those in which the
  student demonstrates the University is not
  fulfilling its obligation in the offer of
  admission (Approved by Presidents Council)
• Fast Grad
• Attend year-round after sophomore year
• Registration Overrides
• Within One Semester of Graduation
• Limited Use on a Case-By-Case Basis
• Students Can Request to Change from One Summer
  Track to the Other, but NOT to a Fall/Winter
  Track.
• Marriage, Major, Internships, Etc.

FERPA - Overview

• Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
• Directory Information is not considered private
  information.
• Student class schedules can no longer be posted
  on the internet unless a student elects to have
  this information displayed.
• Academic Record Information is considered private
  information.
• Individually Identifiable Information.

FERPA Academic Record

• Release of Information to Parents.
• If parents are to be allowed access to a
  students academic record, a release form must be
  signed by the student and on file in the
  registrars office.
• Student TAs and staff must have their own
  username and password. They MAY NOT use a faculty
  members login information.
• Everyone with access to academic record
  information must sign and give to the Registrars
  Office the FERPA Agreement Notification and
  Confidentiality of Student Records Agreement
• Dont use Social Security numbers to identify
  students when posting grades.

Applying for Graduation

• Substitution of GE Credits
• Must be signed off by both the department chair
  and college dean of the college where the GE
  class is taught.
• Substitution of Major Credits
• Must be signed off by the department chair.

Applying for Graduation

• Application for Graduation should be at least one
  semester prior to graduation.
• Be sure to look at catalog year when planning.
• Graduation Reports must have minors and/or
  clusters to display accurate information.
• Minors can be added by the Advising Center.
• Clusters must be turned into the Registrars
  Office and entered manually.

Dual Credits

• A person may take a class and have it count for
  both general education credit and a major
  requirement.
• A class may also fill both a major requirement
  and a minor requirement unless the minor
  specifically states otherwise.
• Classes used for clusters cannot also fill
  requirements for general education, a major, or a
  minor.
• If a class fills two requirements, it still only
  counts once toward the 120 credit hours required
  for graduation.

Associate Degrees

• University Studies
• An Associates Degree may be used to fulfill the
  minor requirement.
• Applied Technology Bachelors Degree
• An option for those with specialized associates
  degree.
• Offered through the Business Department.

Non-traditional Students

• 6 credit per semester limit.
• Highly discourage students from declaring
  education as a major.
• Due to 12 credit student teaching.
