• EBP has great applicability to teaching macro
  practice
• Support teaching EBP process and philosophy
  throughout macro conventrations allows students
  to learn to incorporate it in their decision
  making process for administration, policy and
  community development
• Look at ways to increase enrollment of students
  in macro concentration and raise the status of
  macro practice

• Need to learn to adapt EBP steps for macro
  practice and demonstrate how it can be used in
  administration, policy and community development
• Increase the focus and awareness of culture as a
  factor in the evidence
• Continue the dialogue and experiment in teaching
  EBP
• Look at what we are doing in the classroom. (Is
  it EBP?)
• What skill sets do the students need to develop
  to use EBP in macro practice?
• Work with CSWE to develop faculty trainings to
  promote the use of EBP process in macro
  concentrations

  seminar using a macro case.
• Assign problems students review
  literature,choose intervention and do an
  evaluation of the intervention can be applied to
  policy, administration, community development or
  micro (require students to defend their
  decisions--why the intervention is selected, why
  it was preferred over others, what is the
  evidence for its use )

  expertise on EBP in macro process for a few
  months
• - Use EBP in field instructor trainings or
  invite field instructors to EBP trainings and
  provide CEUs
• - Promote and train adjuncts teaching macro
  course in EBP and philosophy

  submit for consideration of a systematic review

  incorporate the use of EBP in macro practice

• Schools partner with agencies to support the use
  of EBP in agencies
• Teach EBP in Leadership, advocacy

  in teaching EBP, including continuing education
  and partnerships w/MH agencies

Other Issues for Macro Practice

• Look at how we are communicating to students that
  the best route to administration is through
  direct practice fails to train the student to
  use the EBP process for administrative, policy
  and community development
• Communicate to colleagues and agencies that EBP
  can be the foundation for administrative
  decisions, policy and community development

Meeting the Resistance

• EBP includes practice wisdom and does not rely
  solely on evidence refer to Thyers definition
• Recognize that best available evidence does not
  always mean RCTs, but covers a wide range of
  evidence
• When we encounter resistance to EBP in community
  development work with the community to evaluate
  the program they choose and add to the evidence
  of what is or is not effective
