2Tapping into the Hidden Workforce Why
individuals with disabilities can make the best
virtual call center workers. National
Telecommuting Institute, Inc (NTI) is a
non-profit disability organization supported
by government funds. NTI is dedicated to
connecting call center employers with the vast
untapped workforce of people with physical
disabilities nation-wide who need home-based
work. NTIs Executive Director M.J. Willard will
cover the points below and describe how NTI is
currently working with call centers such as
Alpine Access, Pearson Government Solutions,
Datatrac and JLodge to help meet their labor
needs.
3Employers receive a federal tax credit of 2,400
per new hire
NTI will assist with the paperwork to make
collection easy
4Employers receive pre-screened candidates who
match their recruitment profiles
NTI can do everything but the final
interview
5Employers receive a list of candidates who have
up-to-date computer equipment, headsets,
broadband Internet access and second phone lines
or who have the backing of their state
vocational rehabilitation agency who has promised
to purchase such equipment if the candidate is
hired. It is NTIs job to make sure candidates
have the equipment necessary to perform the work.
NTI coordinates such purchases with
participating state agencies.
6Employers are connected with a qualified,
motivated and loyal workforce. NTI refers
candidates who NEED home-based employment. This
translates to low-turnover as candidate are
likely to stay long-term when they find an
employer who can accommodate their need.
7Employers can work via NTI to recruit
nationally NTI can recruit candidates in
multiple time zones or candidates with
hard-to-find skill sets. NTI works in
conjunction with the Federal/State Vocational
Rehabilitation system. This network of agencies
provides services to 1.2 million people with
disabilities each year who have asked the
government for help in their search for
employment.
