- COURSE DESCRIPTION
- Pharmacology for Dentistry is taught as TWO
COMPLEMENTARY COURSES, A (206Y) and B (306Y),
which are given on ALTERNATE YEARS. - The course is taken by all 2nd yr and 3rd yr
Dents students, as well as both the QP1 and QP2
classes - COURSE A - (Year 2006-07.) This course will
deal with mechanisms and principles of drug
action and metabolism/elimination, agents for
infections and cancer, endocrinological agents
and haematological problems, allergies and
anti-inflammatory agents and special topics in
paediatric and geriatric pharmacology. - COURSE B - (Year 2007-08) This course will
introduce nomenclature and mechanisms of action
of drugs affecting the peripheral and central
nervous systems, drug prescribing and
regulations, drugs affecting the cardiovascular
system, agents used to induce anaesthesia,
narcotic analgesics and drug abuse.
