Cranes Want Some Food.
  • How do Sand Hill Cranes eat? They eat with their
    beaks. You may see them eating corn in a field.
    They eat fish, frogs, and insects.
  • The Sandhill Cranes eat green plants.

Hey! Look At Those Cranes Eggs.
  • Look at these babies! Two eggs are laid at a
    time. The babies follow their parents soon after
    hatching. They fly in about 70 days and stay
    with their parents for nearly a year

Sand Hills nest all alone on the ground near
water. The Cranes use pieces of plants to build

  • Cranes make their homes in grasslands and also
    in wetlands and meadow habitats. They have homes
    so they can hide from their predators. Did you
    know that when Sandhill Cranes migrate, they go
    in big groups?

    head is their skin. Sandhill Cranes have legs as
    long as a first and second graders legs.

    first and second grader. These animals are gray
    with white feathers on their backs.
  • Sand Hill cranes have a wing span of 79 inches.
