• Nehemiah 96 You alone are the LORD. You made the
  heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their
  starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the
  seas and all that is in them. You give life to
  everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship
  you.

Review

• God created and energized the entire universe
• Days of creation were literal 24 hr days NOT long
  periods of time
• God created enormous and mysterious objects in
  the universe
• Gods creation was blessed and declared very good

1. God Created Man and Woman

• Breathe of life Image of God God
  consciousness
• Genesis 126-27 26 Then God said, "Let us make
  man in our image, in our likeness, and let them
  rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of
  the air, over the livestock, over all the earth,
  and over all the creatures that move along the
  ground." 27 So God created man in his own image,
  in the image of God he created him male and
  female he created them.

Adam, man from the dust of the ground earthy

• Genesis 27 the LORD God formed the man from the
  dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils
  the breath of life, and the man became a living
  being.
• Genesis 218 The LORD God said, "It is not good
  for the man to be alone. I will make a helper
  suitable for him."

Eve, woman from the side of Adam flesh, bone,
blood

• Genesis 221-23 21 So the LORD God caused the man
  to fall into a deep sleep and while he was
  sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and
  closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD
  God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of
  the man, and he brought her to the man. 23 The
  man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh
  of my flesh she shall be called 'woman,' for she
  was taken out of man."

2. God Completed His Creation and Rested

• Genesis 21-3 1 Thus the heavens and the earth
  were completed in all their vast array. 2 By the
  seventh day God had finished the work he had been
  doing so on the seventh day he rested from all
  his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and
  made it holy, because on it he rested from all
  the work of creating that he had done.
• Rested to cease from Creative work (without
  weariness)
• Sabbath day of rest was given to Israel

3. Man was Placed in a Perfect Environment

• God planted a garden called Eden
• Beautiful trees and good for food

Paradise

• Genesis 28-10 8 Now the LORD God had planted a
  garden in the east, in Eden and there he put the
  man he had formed. 9 And the LORD God made all
  kinds of trees grow out of the ground--trees that
  were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In
  the middle of the garden were the tree of life
  and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

River originated in Eden and flowed branching out
into four

• Genesis 210 A river watering the garden flowed
  from Eden from there it was separated into four
  headwaters.
• Genesis 26 but streams (ade- mist, vapor) came
  up from the earth and watered the whole surface
  of the ground

Man given dominion and responsibility over Gods
creation

• Genesis 128 God blessed them and said to them,
  "Be fruitful and increase in number fill the
  earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the
  sea and the birds of the air and over every
  living creature that moves on the ground.

Genesis 215 The LORD God took the man and put
him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take
care of it.

Adam named all the living creatures livestock,
birds, beasts

• Genesis 219 Now the LORD God had formed out of
  the ground all the beasts of the field and all
  the birds of the air. He brought them to the man
  to see what he would name them and whatever the
  man called each living creature, that was its
  name.

4. God Instituted the Marriage Covenant

• Marriage monogamous, heterosexual, permanent
• Complimented and completed each other soul
  mates

The Marriage Covenant

• Genesis 224-25 24 For this reason a man will
  leave his father and mother and be united to his
  wife, and they will become one flesh. 25 The man
  and his wife were both naked, and they felt no
  shame.

Mark 107-9 7 'For this reason a man will leave
his father and mother and be united to his wife,
8 and the two will become one flesh.' So they are
no longer two, but one. 9 Therefore what God has
joined together, let man not separate."
