The Most Basic Elements

• Is this a primary alert ?
• Where did it happen (CoordinatesRA DEC, maybe
  not)?
• When did it happen ?
• Who saw it (the system or telescope) ?
• What do you think it is? (SN, GRB, Flare, etc.)

Other (Possibly) Useful Information

• How big was it? (magnitude, fluence, etc.)
• How did you see it ? (instrument configuration)
• Errors on location, time, etc.
• Detailed Instrument information ?(location)

Ongoing Engineering

• We should adopt VOEvent
• Meets our needs in HTN

• Works for robotics

• Easily stored in databases
• Operational tools in place (TALONS, eSTAR,
  CalTech)

• Still has not gotten stamp of approval from IVOA
• Uses two other standards that will be ratified
  after VOEvent is
• STC (where/when)
• UCDs (several places)
• XML parsing, authentication, verification, etc.
