What its all about

• TCT stands for Teenage Cancer Trust.
• TCT helps teenagers with cancer, they build units
  just for teenagers who just have cancer. They
  also talk to the teenagers and listen to them and
  also help them.
• There are only 10 workers working for this
  charity they have built 8 specialist units
  already in the UK. At least another 15 hospitals
  want units. But its costs 2 million for 1 unit!!!

Why we need these Units

• Can you imagine, you have just been diagnosed
  with cancer. You will be in hospital for around
  48 weeks, not all at once but during the year -
  it could be more or if your lucky less! You have
  a choice of going into the children's ward where
  you feel like a baby and you cant even hear your
  self think or into the adults ward where they
  are all older than 70 and you can hear your self
  breathe!

• So that is why they are building units for
  teenagers. Here you can just chill out, hang
  around with other teenagers, make friends who
  know how you feel not babies and people nearly
  older than your grandparents!
• 85 recover from cancer but if they go into a TCT
  unit they have a extra 15 of recovering
• You can also have fun, listen to music, be loud
  there is a den where no adults are allowed in,
  without permission in here there is a big plasma
  screen with sky, telephone, sofa, pool table. You
  can just do whatever you want !

Facts

• Each day in the UK, 6 teenagers are diagnosed
  with cancer, that is over 2,200 new cases every
  year.
• Cancer is the most common cause of non-accidental
  death in teens and young adults in the UK.
• 1 in 330 boys and 1 in 420 girls will contract
  cancer before their 20th birthday

• By the age of 15 you have a 1 in 600 chance of
  developing cancer. By the age of 24 you will have
  had a 1 in 285 chance of developing cancer.
• In the last 30 years the incidence of cancer in
  the teenage and young adult group has increased
  by 50 and for the first time ever, the number of
  teens with cancer now exceeds the number of
  children with cancer.
• Teenagers contract some of the most aggressive
  cancers that are made worse by their growth
  spurts.

How can you help

• Why dont you buy a band all the money goes to
  TCT.
• You can just give a donation, any amount small or
  big every little helps!
• How about do something else to raise money.
• But please get involved and help these teenagers!
