Preamble
  • We the people of the United States, in Order to
    form a more perfect Union, establish Justice,
    insure domestic tranquility, provide for the
    common defense, promote the general Welfare, and
    secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and
    our Posterity, do ordain and establish this
    Constitution for the United States of America.

What does the Preamble do?
  • Sets out to do two things
  • 1 show legitimacy of the new government or its
    right to rule
  • 2 to state why this new government is being
    formed

Why the government is being formed
  • To improve the structure of the government
  • To create justice and peace within the nation
  • To protect the nation from outside attacks
  • To ensure the well-being of the people
  • To keep citizens and their descendants free

    group of people

  • Censorship- editing or deleting certain
    information in the press
