  • November 2, 2006

Policy Changes
  • Grade appeals less than 1 year old
  • Grade appeals (regardless of the time frame) are
    now reviewed and ruled upon by the Academic
    Standards Committee.
  • The WF appeal form is still located on the
    Registrars website. However, all information is
    submitted to the academic advisor in the same
    process previously used to handle appeals older
    than 1 calendar year.

  • ANTH 1107 Discovering Archeology has been
    approved to satisfy the Core Area E World
    Cultures requirement.

Grading Guidelines
  • Instructors are not permitted to change the
    following grade combinations
  • Any letter grade (A,B,C,D) to a W grade
  • A WF grade to any letter grade including W
    and I
  • An Excessive Absence to any letter grade
    including W and I

  • Students are responsible for
  • Officially withdrawing from a course
  • Completing a roll correction form in order to be
    reinstated into a course
  • Appealing W or WF grades to the Academic
    Standards Committee

Testing Information
  • Regents Test
  • New Regents Test registration HOLD
  • This hold has been placed on every undergraduate
    student enrolled in at least their 2nd semester
    that has not passed both parts of the Regents.
  • This hold will force the student to register for
    the Regents test prior to registering for other
    courses.

  • Students were informed of the new HOLD by a
    mailed flyer, and an email blast to the
    colstate.edu address
  • Dr. Camille Hassenplug, Director of the Testing
    Center, sent an email to all faculty regarding
    the new HOLD process

Information Literacy Requirement
  • Communication Technology Skills and Information
    Literacy tests are now available via SAM
    Challenge.

Math Placement Test
  • Reminder --- all students that have not
    successfully completed an Area A Math course are
    required to take the Math Placement Test unless
    theyve placed into Basic Studies.
  • Please refer to the handout by Dr. Tim Howard.
    Resources are listed on the handout. Please
    share with your students!

Reporting Capabilities
  • Department Chairs have access to a report in ISIS
    that provides a master listing of students
    either by Department or Major and the Academic
    Standing of those students.
  • This report is located under the Department Chair
    Menu REPORT 008 Academic Standing Report.

On-Line Grade Change
  • The Registrars Office and CINS have created an
    on-line grade change process!
  • Only grade changes less than 1 year old can be
    submitted on-line.
  • Only the instructor of record can submit an
    on-line grade change.
  • Only permissible grade changes are allowed
    through ISIS i.e. faculty will still not have
    the capability to change a WF grade.

  • Grade changes older than 1 year must still be
    submitted in paper copy to the Academic Standards
    Committee.
  • Each Department Chairperson must provide the name
    of their Academic Secretary so I may ensure the
    appropriate access is available. (Please email
    me.)
  • The on-line grade change has reporting
    capabilities!

Academic Competitiveness Grant
  • Requirements
  • U.S. citizen
  • Federal Pell Grant recipient
  • Full-time enrollment in a degree program
  • Be enrolled in the 1st or 2nd academic year of
    the program of study at a two-year or four-year
    degree granting institution
  • Completed a rigorous secondary school program of
    study (after Jan. 1, 2006, if a 1st year student,
    and after Jan. 1, 2005 if a 2nd year student)
  • If a 1st year student, not have been previously
    enrolled in an undergraduate program, and
  • If a 2nd year student, have at least a cumulative
    3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the
    first academic year.

  • Requirements
  • U.S. citizen
  • Federal Pell Grant recipient
  • Full time enrollment in a degree program
  • Be enrolled in a four-year degree-granting
    institution
  • Major in physical, life or computer science,
    engineering, mathematics, technology, or a
    critical foreign language, and
  • Have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point
    average on a 4.0 scale each semester of grant
