5Without Purpose
The power behind the happening lost.
Events can be just happenings
The story becomes less and less significant over
time..
6He rode in on a colt/donkey
Penned 500 years before this incident ever took
place
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion shout, O
daughter of Jerusalem behold, thy King cometh
unto thee he is just, and having salvation
lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt
the foal of an ass. (Zechariah 99)
7Never doubt that GOD is on the Throne He has
TOTAL CONTROL!
He is all powerful
He is all knowing
He is not late
His plan of redemption was/is just that A PLAN!
8There is a celebration going on
Right at the crest, where Mount Olives begins its
descent, the whole crowd of disciples burst into
enthusiastic praise over all the mighty works
they had witnessed Blessed is he who comes, the
king in God's name! All's well in heaven! Glory
in the high places! (Hosanna) Luke 1937-38
(Message)
9Not everyone is enjoying it
The political leaders were angered by their
perceived loss of influence
The religious leaders were convinced it would
happen their way
Then there were the innocent oblivious
10Concerning the death sentence and the execution
of Jesus
It was the Fathers plan from the beginning of
time
And I will cause hostility between you and the
woman, and between your offspring and her
offspring. He will strikea your head, and you
will strike his heel. Genesis 315 (NLT)
Lamb slain from the foundation of the world
Revelation 138
11Concerning the death sentence and the execution
of Jesus
- It was the Fathers plan from the beginning of
time
Jesus submitted his will to the Fathers
Nothing happened to him except what he allowed
12Jesus said, "Put your sword back where it
belongs. All who use swords are destroyed by
swords. Don't you realize that I am able right
now to call to my Father, and twelve
companiesmore, if I want themof fighting angels
would be here, battle-ready? But if I did that,
how would the Scriptures come true that say this
is the way it has to be?" Matthew 2653 (Message)
13Concerning the death sentence and the execution
of Jesus
- It was the Fathers plan from the beginning of
time
- Jesus submitted his will to the Fathers
- Nothing happened to him except what he allowed
Had the devil known what was happening he would
have worked to prevent it
14Which none of the princes of this world knew for
had they known it, they would not have crucified
the Lord of glory. I Corinthians 28 (KJV)
15Words of a King
Father forgive them, for they know not what they
do.
Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with
me in paradise.
Woman behold thy son. Behold thy mother.
I thirst
My God, my God why has thou forsaken me?
It is finished!
16It declares the work was done, and the results
will continue. Not only was Jesus redemptive
work and mission finished, but all who believe
can continue to draw on the work accomplished at
Calvary. Neither Jesus nor God the father
needed to add anything to the work forever
fulfilled and finished on the cross. Neither
can we add to it in any way IT IS FINISHED is
Christs own answer to those who would say our
redemption needed some further work for our
victory over SIN, SATAN or HELL.
17Words of a King
- Father forgive them, for they know not what they
do.
- Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with
me in paradise.
- Woman behold thy son. Behold thy mother.
- My God, my God why has thou forsaken me?
Father into thy hands I commit my spirit.
18We have the advantage of the view before the
cross, during and through revelation given after
the cross
19Jesus said to his disciples It is better for you
that I leave.
20In actuality this week marks the first thing that
really makes any difference in all of HISTORY of
mankind/humanity.
21The second thing that marks HISTORY is the day
in my heart I said I believe!
22Romans 109-10 (message) This is the core of our
preaching. Say the welcoming word to God"Jesus
is my Master"embracing, body and soul, God's
work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus
from the dead. That's it. You're not "doing"
anything you're simply calling out to God,
trusting him to do it for you. That's salvation.
With your whole being you embrace God setting
things right, and then you say it, right out
loud "God has set everything right between him
and me!"
23That is the ultimate PURPOSE behind the
PASSION!
