Title: Recycling

1
Recycling
  • Recycling is one of the easiest ways to help
nature. Young people are more and more interested
in nature and how to keep it clean. Finnish
people are very diligent recyclers. Most people
    recycle their newspapers, plastic- and
    glassthings, metal stuffs, bottles, decaying
foodwaste and so. Consumption is a part of every
persons life and recycling is very important
because the amount of garbage is growing all the
    time.

2
What is it?
  • recycling means using materials, objects or some
other cultural things again for advantage

3
General facts
  • recycling saves nature, energy, the environment
    and money
  • even though recycling and waste service works,
waste problems are still growing and the amount
    of garbage is increasing
  • Waste problems started because of quick
industrialization and all the time growing
    standard of living
  • recycling is very important for the future

4
  • almost 80 million tons of waste in Finland every
    year is produced
  • self made compost. All decomposing waste
    becomes soil.

5
Biorefuse Mixedwaste
  • for example foodremains, serviettes, teabags,
    flowers, filterpaper
  • everything that decomposes and is able to become
    soil
  • your everyday trashes
  • things that you cant recycle but its not
    problem waste either
  • its called drywaste
  • trashes which go to the dump

6
Glass recycling Metal recycling
  • things that are made of glass
  • for example glass bottles, containers, vases
  • Paper recycling
  • magazines, newspapers for example
  • things that are made of metal
  • for example cans, metalpipes, metallids

recyclable things

Recycling Clothes Problem waste
  • you can sell your old clothes at a fleamarket or
    to a friend
  • you can give them to some organization like UFF
    or the Red Cross
  • waste that you cant destroy with other wastes
  • problem waste has to be taken to the problem
waste factory where it is burned in a high
    temperature
  • for example batteries, medicines, electricity
    machines, light bulbs, thermometers

9
What can we do?
  • use flea markets and old stuff shops
  • choose the product which is in a little package
  • dont buy unnecessary products
  • avoid buying plastic bags, use your own fabric
    bag
  • rent or lend things which you dont need often
  • urge your family and friends to recycle
  • try to repair broken things before you toss them

10
We asked some young people how they do recycling
and what it means to them?
  • I personally think recycling is a very
important little thing for anyone to do. It
really helps humanity with trash-problems and
saves nature. We recycle glass and plastic
bottles, newspapers and metal in my family
  • I only recycle bottles and I think its nice
because I get money from it
  • It's absolutely a good thing to think about
your own everyday life and how you could live
more ecologically. Products in shops have
nowadays good signs of what is environmentally
friendly. People find also good products for
themselves at a fleamarket or recycling centers.
  • Every kind of nature protection is important
so I try to recycle whenever its possible. I
recycle for example used bottles, old clothes and
old electric gadgets and old magazines. I dont
use recycled products and thats the thing where
    I can do better.
  • Recycling activity is effective and
multifaceted in Finland. People obey the rules
pretty well. I do paper and biorecycling and I
take my old clothes to a fleamarket.
