Title: Math: My Smarties Project on Probability
1 Math My Smarties Project on Probability
- Gr. 8
- St. Marguerite School
- Spruce Grove, Alberta
2Smarties Project
- I learnt that there is more probability in
getting something if there is more than one. - My most probable colors were red, blue and green.
- It simplifies math because you can gain a better
understanding of probability.

3My Smarties Project
- I learned that probability is not the most
accurate way to predict things. - My most probable color from my box was green.
- Spreadsheets help us do Math because it spreads
out our work for us to make it easier to read.
Graph created by Brandon
4Smarties Project
- I learned that probability is how often you can
choose a certain object. - The most probable color I have was brown.
- A spreadsheet helps space out you math work and
it is a lot neater then my writing.
Graph created by Mark
5My Smarties Project
- I learned that probability is influenced by
percentages. - My most probable color was red.
- The spreadsheet simplified the math because it
had a lot of shortcuts that did some of the math
for us.

6My Box of Smarties
- We learned a lot about probability when we did
the Smarties such as learned percentage and lots
of other stuff too. - The most I had of each Smarties was Blue and
Yellow which both had three. - Spreadsheet helps simplify math by it has a built
in calculator and also it simplifies numbers that
you want it to.

7My Smarties Project
- When we did the Smartie project, I learned that
just because there is a great possibility of
picking a certain color doesnt mean it will be
picked. - The most probable color from my original box of
Smarties is brown. - It helps because everything from making graphs to
putting a decimal number to a percent is easier
just from the touch of a button.

8What I have Learned About Probability with
Smarties
- What I have learned about probability doing this
project is that if you have a high percentage of
a certain Smartie, you are most likely to pull
out that color from the box. - The most probable color from my original box of
Smarties was brown. - Spreadsheet simplifies Math because you are able
to make charts and the information is right in
front of you. This makes it easier to understand
probability.

9My Smartie Box
- I learned that the probability of getting the
same box is impossible. - The most probable color from my Smartie box was
orange and yellow. - The math spreadsheet helps organizes your work
and helps simplify the math.
Graph created by Kimberley
10Kelseys Smarties Box
- I learned that when you have more of a color you
are more likely to have that color than the rest
but since there is still other colors there is
still a chance of getting another color. - My most probable was yellow.
- How does spreadsheet simplify Math? It doesnt.
Graph created by Kelsey
11My Smarties Box
- I learned that when you get a box of Smarties,
the probability of getting the same box is close
to impossible. - The most probable color from my Smartie box was
brown. - The spreadsheet simplifies math and organizes
your work.

13My Smarties Assignment
- When completing this project, I leaned how to use
a spreadsheet. I also learned how to use certain
formulas and learned about probability. - The most probable color of Smartie I could pull
from my Smartie box would be either Purple or
Orange. - A spreadsheet simplifies math by allowing us to
use different formulas and gives us a little
better understanding of it.
Graph created by Jennifer
14Smarties Peroject
- What I learned was that even though the chances
seem high, there's a really bad chance that you
will get the thing that has the highest
probability. - The most probable Smartie in my Smartie box was
the red and the purple smarties. - The spreadsheet helps you gain a better
understanding of probability.
Graph created by Shawn
15My Smarties Project
- I learned that probability is the chances of you
picking a certain Smartie out of a bunch. - Pink was my most probable color.
- It makes it easier to see what's going on.
Graph created by Clayton
16My Smarties Project
- I learned that you only have a chance out of the
number of Smarties you have to pick the colors
you have. - My most probable color from my original box of
Smarties was orange. - I dont have to write all the information down I
can just type it.
Graph created by Katie
17My Smarties Project
- What I learned about probability is the chance of
picking a Smartie out of the box. - The most color that I picked out of my Smartie
box is blue. - It calculates things that would take me a long
time to calculate and is easier to read.
Graph created by Nathan
18What I Have Learned by doing this Project
- I learned that if there's a higher percent of a
certain color of smartie, you will usually choose
that color of smartie. Sometimes you can still
choose a smartie with a low probability though. - The most probable colors from my original box of
Smarties was green and yellow. - Spreadsheet simplifies math because you can make
charts on it so that you can see everything in
front of you and it helps you to understand
probability better when you see pictures of it.
There are also tools that you can use so that you
wont make mistakes in your math.

19My Smarties Assignment
- By doing this assignment, I learned how to use
Microsoft Excel, and the the theoretical
probability of a Smartie Box. - The most probable color of Smartie in my original
box would be either brown, yellow, pink, or
purple. - Spreadsheet simplifies math because it allows you
to put in formulas which solves to probability
problems for you. If it wasnt for this, than
calculating the problems would take too much
time.
Graph created by Stephanie
20My Box of Smarties
- I learned that probability is the theoretical
chance of picking something out of a bunch of
objects. - The most probable color out of my original box of
Smarties was red. - It simplifies it because it spaces it out and it
is easier to look at it.
Graph created by Ryland
21What I Have Learned by Doing This Project
- The most probable color of Smarties from my
original box was brown and purple. - Spreadsheet helps simplify math because it lets
you make graphs to see the information right in
front of you.
Graph created by Shannon
22Smarties Project
- I learned how to make pie and bar charts using
the Smarties project. - The most probable color form my original box of
Smarties is brown and pink. - A spreadsheet helps simplify math by doing the
calculations.
Graph created by Matt
23What I Have Leaned About Probability
- I learned that if there is a higher percent of a
color of Smarties you have a higher chance of
pulling that color. - The most probable color from my original box of
Smarties was green. - Spreadsheet simplifies math because you are able
to make charts and can see everything laid out
before to make it easier. It helps you to
understand probability better when all the
information is in front of you. There are also
tools that can be used so that you dont make any
mistakes in your math.

24My Box of Smarties
- I learned that I am very good at predicting what
I will pick out of the box. - The most probable color I could choose first was
purple. - They simplify them by letting you build graphs
and letting you auto-sum your numbers.
Graph created by Tyler
25My Box Of Smarties
- I learned that probability will help me from
years from now with work. - The most probable Smartie in my box of Smarties
would have to be Yellow. - It helps to see the problems and the simplicity
of the question.

may not get the specific thing that you wanted to
get, or thought that you would get. - I had two most probable colors in my box red and
yellow. - The spreadsheet lets you add up the numbers. It
also allows you to have things separated so that
you can find your work more easily.
Graph created by Jenny
27My Box of Smarties
- What I learned about probability.
I learned that picking or choosing the right
Smartie that you pull is very slim. - The most probable Smartie that I would choose
would be brown, then red, and so on. - Spreadsheet simplifies math by pretty much
saving all the multiplying and dividing.
Graph created by Cody
28My Probability Experiment
- I learned that probability means that the more
you have of something the more likely to pick it
out. - My most probable color from my original Smarties
box is green. - Spreadsheet helps me with my math because instead
of using a calculator to add everything, it is
there already for you.
Graph created by Paige

pulling pink, but instead pull a purple. - The most probable color of from my original
Smartie box was brown. - The spreadsheet simplified math because it is
easier to absorb probability and understand what
the graph is telling you.
Graph created By Jaclyn
33Alishas Smartie Box
- I learned that the probability of getting a
certain color of a Smartie is greater if there is
more of that color, then what there would be if
there was a less amount of the color. - The most probable color from my original box of
Smarties were red, yellow, pink, purple, and
orange. - A spread sheet simplifies math by doing the math
for us, and making the graphs.
Graph created by Alisha
