User Group
User Needs
Mobile users are different and want to receive
the different information. An efficient way to
improve the usability of mobile services is to
adapt the contents and presentation to each
individual user and his/her usage context.
Blue-Commerce takes the advantage of the
available Bluetooth network to create a new
section of Mobile Commerce where information is
customized for individuals whose transactions can
take place in anywhere, at any time, and between
anybody.
Target to Exhibition and Trade Show Stakeholders
are event organizers, exhibitors, and visitors
Five potential users (exhibitor and visitor) are
asked to do a short survey in What do you want
from Blue-Commerce? Result
Organizer
- Communication between Bluetooth devices
- Personalization by saving favorite items
- Customization of the advertised messages and the
received notifications - Navigation of user interface - make it easy to
get around

- Nokia Mobile Internet Toolkit 4.0
- XHTML
- mobile simulation for Nokia 5100 in Terminal
Nokia 5100 SDK 1.0
- Terminal application for exhibitors to enter
their products information - Cell phone application for mobile users to enter
the criteria according to their interests and
search the available products on other device

Recommendations
Area of Improvements
Recommendations are gathered from the comment in
evaluation forms and observing users while doing
the test.
Trust How to trust messages from exhibitors or
users?
Security and Privacy How to protect personal
information and prevent spam messages?
- Having the event organizer controlling a
centralized server to verify the data submitted
by exhibitors - Setting up a website where user can rate the
others like eBay concept
- Distinguish menu from regular information by
using drop down menu - Have an option to set the preferences such as
turn notification on/off, the notification
period, etc. - Able to show the photo of sale item
- Have default values for some fields
- Provide Help option
- Use more precise terminology
- Having users register themselves to the system by
login or using SIM card for identification
Lesson Learned
- Testing prototype with more than one simulation
due to different screen sizes - Bluetooth can be integrated to several
applications besides cable replacement
- Following the design steps is the best e.g.,
should not jump to technology conclusion before
having a clear picture of a user group
