- The Founding
- April 1997 - The Alliance for Youth was began
after the Presidents Summit for Americas
Future. - Supported by Former Presidents Clinton, Bush,
Reagan (represented by First Lady Nancy Reagan),
Carter, Ford who joined General Colin L. Powell,
and other public officials, educators - Americas Promise is mobilizing people from every
sector of life to build character and competence
of our nations youth by fulfilling the FIVE
PROMISES.

- The Promise Fellow Initiative began August 1998.
- Special partnership between AmeriCorps and
Americas Promise. - Provide youth with the FIVE PROMISES.

Overview
- Complete Application Packet
- Provide all requested paperwork, two
identifications. - Full-time
- Committed to Term of Service
- Abide by the 5 PROMISES.
- Minimum of 3 days participation in National Days
of Service and Member Development Trainings. - Must satisfactorily complete assignments, tasks,
and projects. - 1700 hours of service (minimum to complete)
- Hours include service and training.
- Must Complete and submit a Member Service Log
with hours of service completed every month - - Due on the 5th of every month turn in person or

- 1st Member must pay prescription cost up front
and, afterwards, submit for reimbursement - 2nd FILE a claim form using your AmeriCorps
Medical Claim Form. - 3rd Make a copy of the original pharmacy receipt
BEFORE mailing your claim form. - 4th Make sure the doctor has written a diagnosis
of your illness and the medicines prescribed for
you recovery. - Ask your doctor for samples or the generic
brand of medicines being prescribed.

- Members will always need to pay up front and then
submit for reimbursement. Members pay (out of
pocket) the first 100 (annual deductible),
afterwards, AmeriCorps will pay 80 and Members
20. - 1st Call a physician or any dentist to confirm
they are a partner of/with Aetna Insurance. - 2nd Take an AmeriCorps- Aetna Medical Claim Form
to your medical visit and your Temporary/Permanent
Member ID Card. - 3rd Keep a copy of your Medical Claim Form and
any other receipts you receive from your visit - 4th Members are responsible for paying 20 of
your medical expenses or outpatient medical
clinic at the time of services (after your annual
100 deductible) - 5th AmeriCorps will pay the other 80 AFTER the
physician has submitted the claim (the physician
will probably bill you afterwards) - NOTE! Dental diagnostic preventive costs are
covered 80. Other common dental services have
exclusions and limitations refer to your Member
binder for more details!!

- SDCOE AmeriCorps Members are responsible to log
their volunteer hours, listing the type of event,

Binder for the Member Volunteer Log).

- Paychecks
- Checks are distributed via U.S. Postal Mail twice
(2 times) per month on the 5th and 20th (If the
5th or 20th fall on a holiday, the check will be
mailed before the holiday date). - Gross check amount - 541.66 (Before deductions).
- Required to complete a W-4 listing your
allowances - Term of Service (12 months) 13,000 stipend
- Best Practice! Plan to work a second part-time
job to supplement your AmeriCorps Stipend. - Maintain your current local home address, home
